about

I wrote this in my BYU songwriting class Winter 2010 and it was selected for our end of semester showcase.

lyrics

VERSE
Once upon a time, there was a girl
And she cried, every night
She was alone, she felt afraid
She was confused, she ran away

CHORUS
She often wondered, if anybody cared
If she died, would someone cry?
And she wondered, if that man they said would come and set her free
Would he come, would save
Would he rescue her from pain?
Once upon a time…

VERSE
There was a boy, out on the road,
And he tried, but he couldn’t find
He was lost, he was cold
He was far, far from home

CHORUS
He often wondered, if anybody cared
If he died, would someone cry?
And he wondered, if that man they said would come and set him free
Would he come, would save
Would he rescue Him from pain?
Once upon a time…

BRIDGE
He came for her, He came for him,
He came for you, He came for you, he came for me
He came for one, he came for all, he came for everybody
Cause you see, he's off the tree

CHORUS
Why do we wonder, if anybody cares
If we die, will somebody cry
And wonder, if that man they said would come and set us free
He will rescue us from pain?

Once upon a time…
